Lenny Samuel is a private detective. One day, a client comes to his office. This is Sandy Bonner. Sandy tells Lenny about her racehorse Chief. The horse disappeared. Sandy asked the detective to find it. Lenny has never searched for the horses, only people. He didn't like this case, but on the other hand he was in debts. And the horse races seemed to be a very profitable business. The man who had stolen Chief was a bad villain named Ventanas. His partner Dick Gates just rented the horse for an hour and rode away. He didn't come back. Ventanas planned to put Chief in a race again and get much money. Chief was one of the best racehorses before it retired. When it really won the race, Ventanas decided to kill the horse and its owner.
